School History

Pat Smith School of Dance was established in 1973 in the home as a part time business while raising a family. In 1987 the dance room was expanded and a floating wood floor added. Pat became a Yoga Alliance Certified teacher in 2001. The school trained many students to the pre-professional level and had an excellent company, Dance Vision, under the tutelage of Krista Murphy.  The current curriculum focuses primarily on children’s dance and  yoga for all ages.

Hatha/Iyengar yoga is taught in small personal classes in a safe friendly studio environment. The school employs qualified instructors teaching ballet, jazz, tap, in combination classes and yoga.  Dance classes are recreational and non competitive. Students in uniform dance attire learn excellent technique, with a strong emphasis on classical ballet and jazz, dance class etiquette, and age appropriate choreography.
